Remarquable properties of supramolecular complexes the size of small proteins

A new kind of large size self-assembly has shown attributes that are usually restrained to smaller objects such as self-sorting, ring translocation between two positions, or stimuli-responsive structural reorganization, but also emergent properties like a new kind of dynamic supramolecular coupling.

New large-size self-assemblies have shown properties usually restrained to smaller objects, but also new attributes, caracteristic of these assmeblies the size of small proteins. Not only the dynamical behavior observed on small host-guest complexes is conserved in these larger assemblies (self-sorting, ring translocation, structural reorganization), but a new kind of rotational-translational coupling has been observed as well as new kinds of supramolecular assemblies of free radicals.
