Did you know
The ICR council is now made up of 15 members (the list is available on the intranet, “note de service n°1”). Do not hesitate to contact them for any questions relating to the organization and life of the research unit.
FindMolecule
As announced during the December 2023 general assembly, the ICR has acquired licenses for the FindMolecule database management software. This acquisition is meant not only to improve our working conditions but also to limit our expenses relating to the purchase of chemical products. This chemical management software allows for efficient referencing of the chemicals present in each team as well as the ability to search for a compound in databases across the ICR, if necessary. Adding a new product to the database is quick and easy
thanks to entering the CAS number, from which FindMolecule is able to associate the correct structure, as well as prevention and safety data or even certain physico-chemical properties. The software can generate a barcode and label for each bottle, location, or user. So, using a scanner or a smartphone, it is very easy to update the inventory. The search for compounds by their structure is also very valuable. The inventories of the CROPS, SREP, CMO, and PCR teams can already be consulted, and those of the other teams are being imported. An “ICR_read-only” profile is available to everyone so that they can consult the different databases. Usernames and passwords are available from the FindMolecule administrators of each team, do not hesitate to contact your team leader for more information! To help you get started with this software, video tutorials as well as links to online documentation are available on the intranet (“Prevention & Sécurité → 10 Find Molecule” folder). If you have any questions, contact me.
Marion Rollet, project engineer, CROPS team, ICR prevention assistant.

3 questions to Patrick Bernasconi
-
Hello readers, I’m Patrick, an electronics design engineer. My work primarily involves maintaining equipment for the EPR common service and managing the electronics workshop of service 522 at the ICR. I assist users with technical aspects of EPR equipment, design specific equipment for experiments, and ensure the maintenance of various devices in our lab areas.
Among my favorite missions are maintaining older EPR devices, developing new electronic cards, assisting users in correctly adjusting EPR spectrometers, and troubleshooting laboratory devices. I find great satisfaction in providing a service by resolving issues with both standard and unusual equipment.
One professional event that stands out in recent years is my participation in the electoral committee responsible for organizing the elections to form the laboratory council. It was a novel experience that left a lasting impact on me.
