ANR – AAPG – Generic Call for Projects 2026
The Generic Call for Projects 2026 (AAPG 2026), the main call of the French National Research Agency (ANR), is open to all scientific communities and to all public or private stakeholders involved in French research. It enables researchers from various scientific fields to secure funding for their research projects across a wide range of themes, both applied and fundamental.
Five funding instruments:
- Young Researchers (JCJC instrument)
- Ambitious research projects led by a team (PRME instrument)
- Collaborative research projects in a national context (PRC instrument)
- Collaborative research projects in a bilateral international context (PRCI instrument)
- Collaborative research projects involving a commercial company partner (PRCE instrument)
Application deadline: October 14, 2025, 5:00 PM

A*Midex Innovation Call for Proposals
This call aims to support the emergence and early-stage development of innovative projects from the PUI Provence, originating from academic laboratories. By providing financial support and guidance for the initial development steps, the initiative seeks to facilitate the transfer of these projects to industry or the creation of deeptech startups. It continues the momentum of A*Midex’s structuring actions and complements the France 2030 programs dedicated to innovation.

Call for Applications: Women and Science Prize – Early-Career Female Researchers
Despite progress toward gender equality in research, women remain underrepresented in scientific careers. The Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis reaffirms its commitment to equality and inclusion by launching the “Women and Science – Early-Career Female Researchers Prize.” This initiative is part of its broader strategy to support research, foster scientific attractiveness, and promote inclusive excellence.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, October 17, 2025.

Call for Proposals: Immersive Interdisciplinary Mobility 2026
Are you a CNRS researcher with at least four years of experience (by December 31, 2019, at the latest) and looking to redirect your research toward a truly innovative interdisciplinary project that cannot be initiated without specific support? The Mission for Transversal and Interdisciplinary Initiatives (MITI) is launching the “Immersive Interdisciplinary Mobility” call for proposals in 2025.

The 2025 Research Equipment Call for Proposals reflects Aix-Marseille University’s and its partners’ commitment to providing laboratories with the financial resources needed to acquire research equipment.

Track 1: Renewal of equipment for researchers, faculty members, or research engineers affiliated with a research unit at the Aix-Marseille site.
Grant amount: between €100k and €600k, funded by A*Midex. -
Track 2: Renewal of equipment dedicated to applied research for certified platforms at the site, supported by AMU, CNRS, and INSERM.
Grant amount: between €50k and €400k, funded by the France 2030 Cisam+ project. -
Track 3: Acquisition of equipment for researchers, faculty members, or research engineers affiliated with a research unit at the Aix-Marseille site, for projects in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Grant amount: between €2k and €100k, funded by A*Midex.
Deadline: January 5, 2026

Adrien MORAGUES defended his doctoral thesis on September 8, entitled “Synthesis and Development of Fluorescent Probes for the Detection of Carbonyls Induced by Oxidative Stress”. The jury was composed of Odile CHAMBIN (University of Burgundy), Yohann CORVIS (Université Paris Cité), Benoit PARTEYN (INSERM, University of Strasbourg), Sylvia PIETRI (Thesis Co-Supervisor), and Pierre STOCKER (Thesis Co-Supervisor).

Marion FILLIÂTRE will defend her doctoral thesis on September 24 at 9:30 a.m. in the Thesis Room, entitled “Development of a new multi-purpose therapeutic approach: from cancer to antibiotic resistance”. The jury is composed of Patrizia GENTILI (Sapienza University of Rome), Isabelle GILLAIZEAU (University of Orléans), Thierry TOUPANCE (University of Bordeaux), Jean-Manuel RAIMUNDO (Aix-Marseille University), Gérard AUDRAN (Thesis Co-Supervisor), and Sylvain MARQUE (Thesis Co-Supervisor).

Marwa KHOUMERI has joined the PCR team as a technician to work in organic synthesis. Her research activities focus on reactions involving organic electron donors (such as TDAE), metal-catalyzed coupling reactions, as well as the synthesis of compounds with anticancer potential. She is also involved in teaching, contributing to organic chemistry laboratory classes at the Faculty of Pharmacy. Marwa received her PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Carthage in 2022.

Maxime MICHELAS is a postdoctoral researcher within the CROPS team, where he works with Malek Nechab and Didier Gigmes. He completed his PhD in Toulouse under the supervision of Christophe Fliedel and Rinaldo Poli. After obtaining his doctorate in 2023, he joined Cyrille Boyer’s group in Sydney, Australia, for his first postdoctoral position.

Said AIT TALEB is a hospital pharmacy resident and a first-year PhD student under the supervision of Thierry Terme, Patrice Vanelle, and Caroline Castera-Ducros within the PCR team, based at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Marseille. His thesis is entitled “Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Salicylanilides as Antitubercular Candidates Targeting FadD32.” Said completed his pharmacy studies at Aix-Marseille University through a dual research–pharmacy curriculum. He also pursued the Master’s program in research Drug Design (M2).

Ellena BLACK has recently joined the team Chimie Théorique (CT) with supervisors Miquel Huix-Rotllant and Nicolas Ferré. She is from New Zealand and did her undergraduate and Honours degrees at the University of Auckland. She obtained a PhD with Peter Gill at the University of Sydney in Australia.

Sambhav VISHWAKARMA has joined the CROPS team as a postdoctoral researcher to work with Trang Phan and Didier Gigmes on the development of polymer electrolytes for battery applications. Sambhav graduated from Banaras Hindu University (B.H.U), Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, with a Ph.D. focused on the synthesis of a chiral ATRP initiator and a chiral RAFT agent using L-menthol as a precursor molecule. After completing his Ph.D., he joined Hokkaido University, Japan, as a postdoctoral researcher, and later moved to France as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institut Européen des Membranes (IEM-IP2), Montpellier, in the group of Damien Quemener.

Missions & Expenses: If your mission expenses are covered by another institution or Protisvalor, you must declare a “zero-cost” mission with your home institution. Please check with your manager for details.
Intranet & Directory: Remember to log in regularly to the ICR intranet for important updates. Keep your profile picture up to date in the directory (you should have received a link upon arrival; if lost, request it again from your manager).
Sustainable Travel Guidelines
For AMU:
- Train mandatory for trips under 4 hours, encouraged for longer trips.
- First class allowed for train trips over 2.5 hours (with approval from Nicolas Ferré).
- Avoid one-day trips if the meeting is under 3 hours.
- Long-haul flights only for missions over 3 nights.
For CNRS:
- Favor remote alternatives (webinars, hybrid events) whenever possible.
- Combine trips to reduce travel frequency.
- Choose the least polluting transport (train, public transport, active mobility).
- Flights only permitted if train travel exceeds 4 hours (or 6 hours round-trip in one day).
- Second class is standard for train travel; first class only if commercially advantageous.

Novachim 40th Anniversary Ceremony
On September 10th, the 40th anniversary ceremony of Novachim (a network of companies and research laboratories in the “Chemistry and Materials” sector in the Sud PACA region, https://www.novachim.fr/) took place, organized by France Chimie. PhD student Camille NGUYEN (SMBSO/PCR) represented the ICR during the roundtable discussion on the theme: “Chemistry is Feminine!”

The Spectropole platform of the Fédération des sciences chimiques de Marseille (AMU/CNRS/Centrale Méditerranée) has been awarded the CNRS Collective Crystal Medal. This medal honors their staff and celebrates research support teams that have carried out exceptional projects through their technical expertise, collaborative spirit, innovations, and impact.

International Student Welcome Unit (DRI)
The International Student Welcome Unit of the International Relations Office is being renewed! Two new Welcome Officers have joined the team. The offices – now organized as permanent reception desks – are distributed across the different campuses, rather than being centralized at Aix-Schuman. This relocation aims to strengthen proximity with international students and better respond to their diverse needs.

In recent years, research laboratories have been affected by the global surge in helium prices, a gas essential to many scientific fields. To support them, CNRS has implemented a national strategy for the supply and management of this scarce resource.

Ferroptosis
Treatments such as chemotherapy tend only to be effective against the most proliferative cancer cells. At the Institut Curie, Raphaël Rodriguez and his team have opted for a unique approach. They target cells with high metastatic potential using a molecule that can induce a specific type of cell death that is mediated by iron: ferroptosis.

Journée Scientifique de l’ICR 2025
Le 1er juillet 2025, l’ICR a réuni son personnel sur l’île du Frioul pour une journée alliant conférences scientifiques, quizz et dîner convivial. Un moment d’échanges et de partage autour de la vie de l’institut.

ANR – AAPG – Appel à projets générique 2026
Principal appel de l’Agence nationale de la recherche (ANR), l’Appel à projets générique 2026 (AAPG 2026) s’adresse à toutes les communautés scientifiques et à tous les acteurs publics ou privés impliqués dans la recherche française. Il doit permettre aux chercheurs et chercheuses des différents domaines scientifiques de financer leurs projets de recherche sur un grand nombre de thématiques, finalisées ou non.
Cinq instruments de financement :
- Jeunes chercheurs ou des jeunes chercheuses (instrument JCJC)
- Projets de recherche ambitieux portés par une équipe (instrument PRME)
- Projets de recherche collaborative dans un contexte national (instrument PRC)
- Projets de recherche collaborative dans un contexte international bilatéral (instrument PRCI)
- Projets de recherche collaborative incluant un partenaire de type « Société commerciale » (instrument PRCE).

Appel à projets Innovation d’Amidex
Cet appel vise à accompagner l’émergence et la prématuration de projets innovants du PUI Provence issus des laboratoires académiques. En soutenant financièrement et accompagnant les premières étapes de développement de ces projets afin de faciliter leur transfert vers l’industrie ou la création d’entreprises deeptech, il s’inscrit dans le prolongement de la dynamique des actions structurantes d’Amidex et en complémentarité avec les projets France 2030 en faveur de l’innovation.

Appel à participation : prix Femmes et sciences – jeunes chercheuses
Malgré des avancées en matière d’égalité femmes-hommes dans la recherche, les femmes demeurent sous-représentées dans les carrières scientifiques. La métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence affirme son engagement pour l’égalité et l’inclusion en lançant le prix « Femmes et sciences – Jeunes chercheuses », qui s’inscrit dans sa stratégie de soutien à la recherche, à l’attractivité scientifique et à l’excellence inclusive.
Les candidatures sont à déposer avant le vendredi 17 Octobre 2025.

Appel à projet : Mobilité interdisciplinaire immersive 2026
Vous êtes chercheur ou chercheuse au CNRS depuis au moins 4 ans (au plus tard le 31/12/19) et souhaitez réorienter vos recherches vers un projet interdisciplinaire résolument novateur que vous ne pouvez pas amorcer sans un soutien spécifique. La Mission pour les initiatives transverses et interdisciplinaires (Miti) lance en 2025 l’appel à projets « Mobilité interdisciplinaire immersive ».
Date limite de candidature le 6 novembre 2025.

L’appel à projets Équipement Recherche 2025 poursuit la volonté d’Aix Marseille Université et de ses partenaires de donner à leurs laboratoires les ressources financières pour acquérir du matériel de recherche.
- Volet 1 : Renouvellement d’équipement à destination des chercheurs, enseignants-chercheurs ou ingénieurs de recherche rattachés à une unité de recherche du site Aix-Marseille. Montant de la subvention : entre 100 k€ et 600 k€ financés par Amidex
- Volet 2 : Renouvellement d’équipement dédié à la recherche appliquée à destination des Plateformes labellisées du site portées par amU, le CNRS et l’INSERM. Montant de la subvention : 50 k€ et 400 k€ financés par le projet France 2030 Cisam+
- Volet 3 : Acquisition d’équipement à destination des chercheurs, enseignants-chercheurs ou ingénieurs de recherche rattachés à une unité de recherche du site Aix-Marseille porteurs de projets issus des Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société. Montant de la subvention : entre 2 k€ et 100 k€ financés par Amidex.

Adrien MORAGUES soutenu sa thèse de doctorat le 8 Septembre, intitulée “Synthèse et développement de sondes fluorescentes pour la détection des carbonyles induits par le stress oxydant“. Le jury était composé de Odile CHAMBIN (Université de Bourgogne), Yohann CORVIS (Université Paris Cité), Benoit PARTEYN (INSERM, Université de Strasbourg), Sylvia PIETRI (Co-Directrice de thèse) et Pierre STOCKER (Co-directeur de thèse).

Marion FILLIÂTRE soutiendra sa thèse de doctorat le 24 Septembre à 9h30 en salle des thèses, intitulée “Développement d’une nouvelle approche thérapeutique polyvalente : du cancer à l’antibiorésistance“. Le jury est composé de Patrizia GENTILI (Sapienza Université de Rome), Isabelle GILLAIZEAU (Université d’Orléans), Thierry TOUPANCE (Université de Bordeaux), Jean-Manuel RAIMUNDO (Aix Marseille Université), Gérard AUDRAN (Co-Directeur de thèse) et Sylvain MARQUE (Co-directeur de thèse).

Marwa KHOUMERI a récemment rejoint l’équipe PCR en tant que technicienne spécialisée en synthèse organique. Ses recherches portent sur des réactions innovantes impliquant des donneurs d’électrons organiques (comme le TDAE), sur des réactions de couplage catalysées par des métaux, ainsi que sur la synthèse de composés à potentiel anticancéreux. Elle participe également à l’enseignement en encadrant des travaux pratiques de chimie organique à la Faculté de Pharmacie. Marwa a obtenu son doctorat en chimie organique à l’Université de Carthage en 2022.

Maxime MICHELAS est postdoctorant au sein de l’équipe CROPS, où il travaille avec Malek Nechab et Didier Gigmes. Il a effectué mon doctorat à Toulouse, sous la supervision de Christophe Fliedel et Rinaldo Poli, et après avoir obtenu sa thèse en 2023, il a rejoint le groupe de Cyrille Boyer à Sidney, Australie pour un premier postdoctorat.

Said AIT TALEB est Interne en pharmacie hospitalière et en 1ere année de doctorat sous la direction de Thierry Terme, Patrice Vanelle et Caroline Castera-Ducros au sein de l’équipe PCR localisée à la faculté de pharmacie de Marseille. a thèse s’intitule “Synthèse et évaluation biologique de salicylanilides comme candidats antituberculeux ciblant FadD32“. Said a effectué ses études de pharmacie à Aix Marseille Université avec un double cursus recherche-pharmacie. Il a suivi le M2 recherche “drug design“.

Ellena BLACK a récemment rejoint l’équipe Chimie Théorique (CT) sous la supervision de Miquel Huix-Rotllant et Nicolas Ferré. Elle est originaire de Nouvelle-Zélande et a obtenu ses licences et son diplôme d’Honours à l’Université d’Auckland. Elle a ensuite obtenu un doctorat sous la direction de Peter Gill à l’Université de Sydney, en Australie.

Sambhav VISHWAKARMA a rejoint l’équipe CROPS en tant que chercheur postdoctoral pour travailler avec Trang Phan et Didier Gigmes sur le développement d’électrolytes polymères pour des applications dans les batteries. Il est diplômé de l’Université hindoue de Bénarès (B.H.U), à Varanasi, dans l’Uttar Pradesh (Inde), où il a obtenu un doctorat axé sur la synthèse d’un amorceur chiral pour la polymérisation radicalaire par transfert d’atome (ATRP) et d’un agent chiral pour la polymérisation RAFT, en utilisant le L-menthol comme molécule précurseur. Après son doctorat, il a rejoint l’Université de Hokkaido (Japon) en tant que chercheur postdoctoral, avant de s’installer en France comme chercheur postdoctoral à l’Institut Européen des Membranes (IEM-IP2) à Montpellier, au sein de l’équipe de Damien Quemener.

Missions et frais : Si vos frais de mission sont pris en charge par une autre tutelle ou Protisvalor, pensez à déclarer une mission « sans frais » auprès de votre tutelle d’origine. Contactez votre gestionnaire pour plus d’informations.
Intranet et annuaire : Connectez-vous régulièrement à l’intranet de l’ICR pour accéder à toutes les informations utiles. N’oubliez pas de mettre à jour votre photo de profil sur l’annuaire (un lien vous a été envoyé à votre arrivée ; en cas de perte, demandez-le à votre gestionnaire).
Sobriété des déplacements
Pour AMU :
- Train obligatoire pour les trajets < 4h, encouragé au-delà.
- 1ère classe possible pour les trajets > 2h30 (sur accord de Nicolas Ferré).
- Limitez les déplacements d’une journée si la réunion dure < 3h.
- Vols longs courriers réservés aux missions > 3 nuits.
Pour le CNRS :
- Privilégiez les alternatives au déplacement (webinaires, événements hybrides).
- Regroupez vos missions pour limiter les trajets.
- Choisissez les modes de transport les moins polluants (train, transports en commun, mobilités actives).
- Avion autorisé uniquement si le trajet en train dépasse 4h (ou 6h aller-retour dans la journée).
- 2nde classe en train par défaut ; 1ère classe exceptionnelle si offre avantageuse.

Cérémonie des 40 ans de Novachim
Le 10 Septembre s’est tenu la cérémonie des 40 ans de Novachim (Réseau des entreprises et des laboratoires de recherche de la filière « Chimie et Matériaux » en région Sud PACA, https://www.novachim.fr/), organisée par France Chimie.
La doctorante Camille NGUYEN (SMBSO/PCR) a représenté l’ICR lors de la table ronde ayant pour thématique: « La Chimie, c’est féminin ! ». -
le Spectropole de la Fédération des sciences chimiques de Marseille (amU/CNRS/Centrale Méditerranée) ont reçu la médaille de cristal collectif du CNRS. Leurs personnels reçoivent cette médaille qui célèbre des équipes d’appui à la recherche ayant mené des projets d’exception par leur maîtrise technique, leur esprit collaboratif, leurs innovations et leur rayonnement.

Cellule Accueil des étudiants internationaux (DRI)
La Cellule Accueil des étudiants internationaux de la Direction des Relations Internationales se renouvelle ! Deux nouveaux Chargés d’accueil rejoignent l’équipe. Les bureaux des agents – désormais sous forme de guichets d’accueil pérennes – sont répartis sur les différents campus, et non plus centralisés à Aix-Schuman. Cette relocalisation vise à renforcer la proximité avec les étudiants internationaux et à mieux répondre à leurs divers besoins.

Crise d’hélium : le CNRS continue d’insuffler la science
Depuis quelques années, les laboratoires de recherche souffrent de l’inflation mondiale du prix de l’hélium, un gaz indispensable à bien des domaines scientifiques. Pour les soutenir, le CNRS met en place une stratégie nationale d’approvisionnement et de gestion de ce gaz rare.

Ferroptose
Les approches telles que la chimiothérapie ont tendance à n’être efficaces que contre les cellules cancéreuses qui prolifèrent le plus. À l’Institut Curie, Raphaël Rodriguez et son équipe ont opté pour une démarche unique. Ils ciblent les cellules à fort potentiel métastatique grâce à une molécule capable d’induire une mort cellulaire particulière, médiée par le fer : la ferroptose.
